The NCA has launched a strategy that demonstrates its commitment to the physical and mental health of our colleagues and patients.
The strategy was developed with the involvement of colleagues, patients and partners, and there are seven strands to the plan with our approach being focused on high quality compassionate care.
Our Senior Clinical Leaders have endorsed the strategy and are supportive of its rollout. Chief Medical Officer, Rafik Bedair, said: “Mental health is a growing challenge and we want to ensure that patients and colleagues who are affected have the right support. When patients present themselves with a mental health issue it is important that we have the correct skills and knowledge in place to get them on track for their recovery.”
Chief Nurse, Heather Caudle, added: “We will be launching a mandatory training package that will give colleagues the guidance needed when dealing with patients who have mental health issues and this will be rolled out in the coming months.”
