Guidance issued by NHS England and the Care Quality Commission states that every hospital ward must now publicly display details of planned and actual staffing levels, which forms part of the government’s response to the Francis report. Trusts have also pledged to submit monthly staffing reports to board meetings which will be made available to the public online.
The Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust is committed to publishing staffing data for nursing, midwifery and care staff; this is underpinned by our commitment to both delivering high quality care for our patients and the need to improve transparency.
Reported figures here include ward-based supervisory ward managers, temporary staff and the contribution of specialist or other registered and unregistered staff. The figures also reflect operational requirements for staff to be drafted into wards or moved from wards or units with lower-than-expected demand for nursing care to support wards with a higher-than-expected demand for nursing care.
