Cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) is a complex disease affecting all age groups. Although there may be many causes, the primary pathology is thrombosis within the draining veins of the brain, and resulting complications. Clinicians should have a higher index of clinical suspicion for all such presentations in patients known to have hereditary thrombophilia or lupus anticoagulant. This policy provides details around those groups of patients.
