Celebrating 1000 patients onboarded for remote monitoring on Hospital at Home

19 September 2024

The Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA) held a special event to celebrate onboarding its 1000th patient onto remote monitoring kits as part of its Hospital at Home programme, also known as virtual ward services.

The event celebrated the exceptional efforts of colleagues across Oldham, Salford, Bury and Rochdale, whose dedication has provided patients with the opportunity to receive safe and convenient care in the comfort of their own homes.

Sarah Gunshon, NCA Hospital at Home lead, said: “Reaching the 1000th patient onboarded onto the remote monitoring kit is a massive achievement and a testament to the dedication and hard work of our teams. In addition, we have also been recognised as a Trust with the most developed pathways for the progamme, including respiratory, frailty and infection.

“I’d like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to everyone involved.”

The Hospital at Home service allows patients to get the care they need at home safely and conveniently, rather than being in hospital. Multidisciplinary teams ensure people receive high quality care, including senior clinical reviews, the use of tried-and-tested monitoring devices, clinical advice, smartphones and other technology. Healthcare professionals may also visit a patient’s home to provide face-to-face care. Read more on the Hospital at Home page.

The event was held in partnership with Doccla, the technology partner used to register and onboard patients on the Trust’s Hospital at Home programme. Doccla provide all the technology required for clinicians to remotely monitor their patients from home, as well as the medical devices, smartphones and tablets for patients to use.

Food and drinks were provided at the event, as well as a celebratory cake to mark the occasion. Colleagues reflected on the achievement, whilst catching up with colleagues and celebrating their successes so far.
