Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust – Governor Elections 2024

The NCA was formally established on 1 October 2021 and has been working together as a group since 2016.

Our dedicated team of around 20,000 colleagues – our NCA Family – delivers healthcare excellence to over one million people across Salford, Oldham, Rochdale and Bury, as well as providing more specialist services to patients from Greater Manchester and beyond.

Governors’ responsibilities include representing the interests of members and the public as a whole, contributing to future plans, holding Non-Executive Directors to account for the performance of the Board and appointing the Chairman and Non-Executive Directors.

The Trust is holding elections for 19 Governor vacancies in the following constituencies:

Public seats

  • Salford - 4 seats
  • Bury – 2 seats
  • Oldham – 3 seats
  • Rochdale - 2 seats
  • Rest of England and Wales – 1 seat

Staff seats

  • Salford - 2 seats
  • Bury – 2 seats
  • Oldham –1 seat
  • Rochdale – 2 seats

 


Governors are elected for a term of office of 3 years, or for a period of up to 3 years where a seat has become vacant. Terms of Office commence on the day following the announcement made at the Annual Members Meeting 2024. 

Paul Attwell, Lead Governor said  “Governors have a direct role in the development of the Northern Care Alliance, ensuring that the views and interests of the public, patients, carers, our staff and other stakeholders are heard and reflected in strategies to improve the quality of services and patient care.”

John Rodgers, Deputy Lead Governor said “Governors ensure transparency, accountability, and community involvement and promote 'joined-up' working across the whole service, so all departments work seamlessly to ensure a patient's journey is a smooth one and to ensure that patients have a voice enabling the Northern Care Alliance to remain proficient, diverse, responsive and to continue providing an excellent service for us all”
