Salford Community Diagnostic Centre celebrate one year of opening

6 November 2024

Salford Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) celebrated its first anniversary of opening and has delivered more than 19,000 tests to NHS patients in the local area.

In recognition of the milestone, the centre welcomed a special guest, Professor Sir Mike Richards, chairman, Independent Review of Diagnostic Services at NHS England, for a visit.

Salford CDC is operated in partnership with InHealth providing the latest diagnostic imaging and scans to patients.  It also has a teledermatology clinic that uses digital cameras to triage, diagnose and assess skin conditions managing patients with suspected skin cancer at pace.

Jude Adams, chief delivery officer at Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust, which includes Salford Royal, said: “We appreciate how hard it can be when waiting for a test.  Thank you to all our colleagues who have worked so hard to offer our patients quicker testing and to allow those who need treatment to get seen sooner.

“We offer an eDerma clinic where almost 80 per cent of patients assessed receive a clinical diagnosis or treatment plan within 28 days. The increase in testing capacity is helping to reduce wait times and improving the health outcomes in our local communities.”

Appointments for tests are by referral only with the CDC being open 7 days a week, 8am to 8pm.
