Residents from Salford and the surrounding area can now conveniently access a range of diagnostic testing, at the Salford Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) which opened to NHS patients in October 2023.
Located at West One Retail Park in Salford, the CDC offers the latest technology in diagnostic tests. The centre aims to serve approximately 20,000 NHS patients from in and around Salford each year in a convenient location away from busy hospital sites.
The Salford CDC has been built in partnership with the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust and InHealth, the UK’s largest specialist provider of diagnostic solutions, with funding from NHS England and as part of the government’s national investment to open up to 160 CDCs by 2025.
Available testing includes scanning (MRI, CT and Ultrasound), heart and lung tests and tele-dermatology, helping to quickly and conveniently investigate a range of symptoms including suspected cancers and breathlessness. Patients are referred to the centre by their GP or other healthcare professionals.
We recognise that having any type of clinical test can be worrying. The aim of the Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) is to provide a quick and efficient service.
The facility is a testing service so you will in many cases have your test and then leave. For those who are receiving more than one test on the same day, the centre is conveniently located within a retail park so that refreshment facilities are easily accessible.
Due to the range of testing available each patient experience will vary on a test-by-test basis. Each patient can find further information on what to expect during their visit to the Salford CDC in the Patient Information Leaflets provided by the service they are referred in by upon confirmation of appointment.
