I had an absolutely fantastic day on the IFU!
Everyone was really welcoming and friendly. The patients I met on the day spoke very highly of the staff that cared for them. I also felt the unit had a really relaxed feel to it- although the staff were busy they did not come across as stressed/overwhelmed and that is so important for patient experience.

I truly enjoyed my stay. Everyone was open and welcoming, and the department arranged a schedule tailored to my wishes. This gave me the opportunity to see many aspects of the unit, including ward rounds, clinics, the nutritional support team and follow an outgoing nurse in the patients' home. Further, I engaged with ongoing research in the department, acquired new skills in QI macros, had feedback on my own ongoing research, and became a part of a new quality improvement research project in the department.

During my month-long stay, I had the opportunity to observe how you guys manage patients in their specialized unit, your approach to patients with intestinal failure both enteral and parenteral-wise. I also had the opportunity to visit patient at home who were on parenteral nutrition support and learn about your system, including remote discharge in cooperation with nearby oncology hospital. This opened up a whole new experience to me, and I am very grateful for this opportunity. I will bring what I have learned to develop a better system and treat patients more efficiently.

I would like to express my deep gratitude for the opportunity to complete my rotation in the intestinal failure unit last December. It was an invaluable experience that allowed me to immerse myself in the comprehensive management of these patients.
During my time in the unit, I had the privilege of interacting with an exceptional multidisciplinary team, including surgeons, gastroenterologists, nurses, pharmacists, dietitians, and a psychologist. This diversity of perspectives enriched my understanding of the holistic approach necessary to provide the best care for patients.
