The Northern Care Alliance NHS Group and Public Health England are extremely well prepared for outbreaks of infectious diseases.
Self-isolate if you develop:
- a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
- a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
- Anosmia - a loss/change in your normal sense of smell or taste
Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital.
Use the online 111 coronavirus service service to find out what to do.
Only call 111 if you cannot get help online.
- if you have symptoms of coronavirus, you'll need to stay at home for 7 days
- if you live with someone who has symptoms, you'll need to stay at home for 10 days from the day the first person in the home started having symptoms
If you live with someone who is 70 or over, has a long-term condition, is pregnant or has a weakened immune system, try to find somewhere else for them to stay for 14 days.
If you have to stay at home together, try to keep away from each other as much as possible.

We are asking that patients who are seen in a community clinic or at home please wear a type 1 face mask for the duration of their visit/appointment.
Our community staff can provide you with a type 1 face mask, however, this is voluntary, and only in situations where you can tolerate wearing them.
This request is made in the spirit of co-operation and mutual protection for you the patient and our staff. Thank you.

It’s important that we can all join together and play our part in stopping the spread of COVID-19. To support this, information is available in a range of formats and languages.
A few examples of this are below:
- Doctors of the World and the British Red Cross have versions of the Government’s written advice in many languages. Videos in languages other than English are also available.
- It can be difficult to explain the current situation to children, many of whom are frightened and confused. Gruffalo illustrator Axel Scheffler has illustrated a free digital book (pdf) about coronavirus for primary school age children
- Young Minds has produced 10 top tips on talking to children & young people about Coronavirus
- For people living with a learning disability, autism or ADHD, information about coronavirus and advice on staying safe and well are available from the Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership.
To help reach communities where English is not the first language, we have developed new translated materials in a variety of languages. These materials can help members of the public understand current guidance, outlined by HM Government:
Thank you for your continued support and understanding at this challenging time.
