H2 is a 25 bedded unit which provides specialist respiratory care for both chronic and acute conditions.
The team would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the ward.
The ward manager is Alexandra Glazebrook who is supported by Sister Jemma Garlick, Sister Tracey Twigg, Sister Stacey Devine and Charge Nurse Joshua Neal who work alongside an amazing team of nurses, support workers, the ward clerk and housekeeper.
The ward is made up of thirteen side rooms and four separate bay areas housing four patients in each bay area. Working closely alongside the wider multi-disciplinary team, the unit can undertake investigations to support diagnosis and treatment of conditions which require long term airway ventilation such as obstructive sleep apnoea, motor neuron disease or chronic respiratory failure.
Visiting Times/Mealtimes
We welcome relatives and visitors within the unit above the age of sixteen years. Visiting hours are every day between 10.30am to 8.30pm. However, we ask that mealtimes are protected between 12.30pm - 1.30pm and 5.30pm - 6.30pm.
In addition to this, we provide open visiting hours to people identified as important to patients living with cognitive impairments or learning difficulties. If you have any questions relating to this please see our ward clerk Phillipa who will happily assist in any query you have.
The team on H2 endeavor to provide a high standard of holistic patient centered care, maintaining privacy and dignity and promoting autonomy and respect to all patients and service users. We aim to promote good health and feel it is fundamental to our role to provide any and all information to support patients to make informed choices about their care.
The Trust has close links with universities and welcomes a large number of students to undertake their training with various medical and nursing teams across the Trust. At times those students may be working with the teams responsible for your care. We would ask that you enable them to participate in your journey with us to aid their learning and development. However, if you have any concerns about this, please speak with the nurse in charge.
We are very keen to maintain high standards of care for all those patients and service users who come into the unit. However, we appreciate that you may wish to provide feedback or discuss your concerns with the team.
