What is the role of a Macmillan Cancer support worker?
The Macmillan support worker provides practical and emotional support to people living with cancer and their families. They recognise information needs that people require may change over time and work with the person to ensure they receive the right support at the right time throughout their cancer journey.
Your Gynaecology support worker
Your gynaecology support worker is based at the Royal Oldham Hospital and provides a service to Rochdale Infirmary, Fairfield General Hospital and Salford.
What services do we offer?
- The opportunity to complete Holistic needs assessments (a concerns checklist)
- The development of a personalised care plan. We can support you at clinic appointments
- We offer face to face/telephone contact
- We coordinate a persons care and support and can sign post to a wide range of services that may be of benefit
- We can arrange hospital transport for appointments
- We will invite you to our Health and Wellbeing Events, (this is a semi structured education event that offers relevant support and information to people living with and beyond Cancer
How can we help you?
We work very closely with your key worker/Clinical Nurse Specialist and other members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) which includes Doctors, Nurses, Dieticians, Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists.
We are a key link to other professionals and services, and communicate regularly with others involved in your care, for example your GP and district nurses.
