The Gynaecology Oncology Surgeon - A specialist who can assess gynaecological problems and diagnose primary (when your cancer is first diagnosed) and recurrent (if your cancer comes back) cancers. Once your condition has been diagnosed, we will discuss the best possible way to treat it. This may involve an operation or other procedures to remove the cancerous cells. You will be informed of the surgery results.

The Gynaecological Cancer Nurse Specialist/(GCNS) Key Worker - A nurse who is skilled in caring for people with gynaelogical cancer and can provide information and support along with advice on practical issues and problems associated with your treatment.

A GCNS will be assigned to be your key worker, co-ordinating your treatment; whilst under the care of your gynaecological oncology surgeon. If your hospital does not provide a GCNS, you will be assigned a key worker and their contact details to discuss any concerns you might have.

The Gynaecology Macmillan Support Worker (GMSW) - The Gynaecology Macmillan support worker provides practical and emotional support to people living with cancer and their families.

They recognise information needs that people require may change over time and work with the person to ensure they receive the right support at the right time throughout their cancer journey.

The Radiologist - A doctor who is specially trained to interpret X- ray, CT, MRI and special scans. A diagnosis is then made from these.

The Gynaecological Nurse Practitioner - A nurse who has skills in assessing your suitability for surgery. They will see you prior to surgery to ensure a safe post-operative recovery.

The Pathologist - A doctor who looks at cancer cells under a microscope. They work out how the cells might behave, in order to guide decisions on treatment.
