Occupational Therapy - Your guide to a Flexion Strap

Important notes/information about your Flexion Strap

Your flexion strap is designed to help you bend your finger. It should be worn 5 times each day for 5-10 minutes at a time. Your therapist will show you the best way to fit the strap, see photographs overleaf.

  • If you cannot tolerate wearing it for 10 minutes, then gradually build up to this
  • If you are getting increased pain, swelling, pins and needles, numbness of your fingers change colour and become blue whilst wearing the strap, then remove it and contact the Hand Therapy Department

Please note/remember that is it normal to feel some pain when wearing this and also for a few minutes when you first take it off.

If the strap become loose or the stitching is damaged, then please contact the Hand Therapy Department.

If you splint is lost, then you will be charged for a replacement.
