Paediatrics - Children and Young People Stop Smoking Support - for parents/guardians

Stopping smoking is the single best thing you can do to protect your health and those around you. If a child or young person in your household smokes, they can get access to free, personalised stop smoking support.

What support is available?

If you child is 12 years or older, smokes tobacco and live in Oldham, they can now be prescribed nicotine replacement therapy on the ward. They can also get free stop smoking support and treatment from:

Your Health Oldham – a local stop smoking service

Your Health Oldham offers one-to-one or group support, either over the phone or face-to-face. Your child will get a free quit plan, including expert advice and nicotine replacement.

If your child takes up this offer, you will be directly referred to the service by the ward nurse.

If your child declines the offer on the ward but would like to self- refer at a later date, please call 0161 960 0255 and give them your referral ID.

Your child should receive a referral ID whilst on the ward.

If they do not receive a referral ID on the ward, a nurse will contact you via telephone to provide you with it.
