We are undertaking an exercise to review our subscription to the point-of-care clinical decision making tool UpToDate. We are exploring the option to switch to the leading competitor DynaMed, which would achieve a considerable cost saving.
A free trial of Dynamed is available during April-June 2025 across the NCA. Use your NCA OpenAthens login (if you need help with this contact library@nca.nhs.uk).
We would love your feedback in the comparison of these two point-of-care clinical tools. There are a few ways to do this:
1. Try DynaMed and let know what you think. Email library@nca.nhs.uk with any feedback; everything is useful.
2. Participate in a one-hour user evaluation focus group session comparing the two tools. These are taking place during the first two weeks of June. You can attend either an in-person or online Teams session on any of the following dates:
In person focus group sessions:
- Wed 4 June 2025, 12:00 – 14:00 – Rochdale L&OD IT suite
- Thur 5 June 2025, 12:00 – 14:00 – ROH library IT suite
- Wed 11 June 2025, 12:00 – 14:00 – Salford library IT suite
- Thur 12 June 2025, 12:00 – 14:00 – Fairfield library IT suite

- Wed 4 June 2025, 18:00 – 19:00

3. If you are unable to attend any of the above focus groups, you can still complete the focus group exercises in your own time, and return them by 23 June. If you would like to do this, please contact Karen.Storms@nca.nhs.uk
In addition to the user evaluation, we will complete the following as part of our comparison review:
- Cost evaluation
- Evidence review of relevant literature
- Library and Knowledge Service Information Specialist evaluation of the quality of each tool
